Abstract

By actively paying tribute and following military arrangement of the central government,Ran Yuan,the Xuanfu Shi of Youyang,was endowed with political power with which he merged other tribe chiefs.In case that he was restricted by other local officials in his expansion of land,he would try every means to remove the restrictions so as to maximize his power.
