Abstract
Modern French poetry is an important source of poetry. It not only influences the construction of the musical forms and the arrangement forms of the new style of Chinese poetry, but also contributes to its tendency towards prosaism and free form. The introduction of the prosaic poetry in the phase of the beginning of the new style of poetry stimulates the extreme movement of free verse.Poetry of symbolism is also an obstacle to the formation of the new style of Chinese poetry and it rectifies the extreme tendency of the traditional British poetry overemphasizing the rules and forms. The modern French poetry intensifies the resistance between the free verse tendency and the inertia of rules and forms.
