Current Situation of Community Public Health Service in Sichuan Province

Objective To know the conditions of community public health service in 2006 in Sichuan province so as to analyze the problems and find out their corresponding solutions.Methods A total of 12 community health centers from 6 cities were chosen to conduct questionnaire survey and focus group discussion on developing conditions and some problems that needed urgently to be resolved.Results More that half of the service centers provided 37 items of all the 44 items of the community public health services.The existing problems were that the policies had not been implemented fully,part of the public health functions had not carried out completely,specific health care providers had difficulties,and quality of the community public health service needed to be improved.Conclusion Efforts should be made to set up the basis of systematic construction of community health centers and carry out all the policies,to increase the service items of community health centers and provide overall service,to definite the individual professional identity and fulfill the duties.
