Abstract

Objective To comprehensive intervene on normal glucose tolerance in elderly and analysis the incidence of the impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, diabetes. Methods The baseline survey for CVD risk factors was carried out in elderly in Beijing. Comprehensive intervene on hypertension, dyslipidemia, body mass index, lifestyle were conducted and followed-up four years. Results The rates of TC≥5.23 mmol/L,LDL≥3.12 mmol/L,TG≥1.7 mmol/L and BMI28 kg/m2 reduced 52.63%、 78.33%、35.40%(P0.01)and 23.61%(P0.05)respectively. The average levels of TC、LDL、TG and BMI reduced significantly(P 0.01)compared with baseline levels. By 4 years,14.57% had progressed to IFG from NGT according to 2003 ADA criteria. The annu-alized rate from NGT to IFG was 3.64%. Among the IFG subjects,7.65% was added IFG according to the new criteria,6.92% was original IFG. 24.23% had progressed to IGT from NGT. Of the IGT subjects,32.33% was IFG and IGT,whereas among the IFG subjects,53.75% was IFG and IGT. The rate had progressed from NGT to diabetes was 3.28%. Conclusions The levels of blood pres-sure、TC、LDL、TG and BMI reduced significantly by comprehensive intervention, which can prevent or delay the occurrence of DM or IGR.
