Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of 64-slice spiral CT MPR technique in diagnosing orbital fractures. Methods Retrospective analysis of the 64-slice spiral CT axial and MPR images of 33 cases orbital fracture was conducted. Results The direct signs of orbital wall fracture included the discontinuous change of orbital wall, bone chip separation, depression and curvature limitations disorders. The specific sign was the tear-dropsign.Indirect signs include eye muscle enlargement and the orbital contents herniated into the sinus.Axial, coronal and sagittal MPR images had their own advantages about different types of orbital wall fracture, the axial images helped show lateral wall fracture, and the sagittal images helped show the superior and inferior wall fracture. Conclusion 64-slice spiral CT multi-planar reconstruction(MPR) technique is a valuable method in the diagnosis of orbital fracture to confirm the site and scope of the orbital fracture.
