Abstract
Fromcooperative principleand its four maxims, this essay aims to illustrate that particularized conversational implicature and the relativity in observing and violating cooperative principle are the keys to generate the sense of humor. Meanwhile, it points out that understanding particularized conversational implicature helps to interpret humor in context.
