Abstract

Objective To explore the significance and value of detecting average index of red blood cells (RBC) for iron-deficiency anemia (IDA). Methods Two hunderd subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups, the iron-deficiency anemia group and the normal group with 100 individuals separately. The mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin content (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) of each group were underwent a combined detection, and these detected results were followed by comparative analysis. Results The MCV, MCH and MCHC level of iron deficiency anemia group were significantly lower than those of the normal group, with P 0.01 for all the phenotypes. Conclusion The combined detection of MCV, MCH, MCHC is of great diagnostic value for iron deficiency anemia, which can be used as an experiment indicator in IDA screening.
