Principal component analysis of yellow-feathered Kirin chicken's body measurement traits and body weight

Abstract

The 7 body measurement traits including body weight,body steep length,keel length,chest width,chest deep,shank length,shank girth of yellow-feathered Kirin chicken at 12 weeks were studied by principal component analysis.The various body measurement traits could be summed up as just a few indices with principal component analysis,to study the relationships among all the traits and provide the scientific reference for breeding.The results showed that the body weight,body steep length,keel length,chest deep,shank girth of cock were significantly higher than those of hen.There were big variation coefficient and breeding potential for shank length and shank girth in yellow-feathered Kirin chicken groups.The body weight was significantly positive correlated with body steep length,keel length,chest deep,shank length and shank girth,there were some direct correlations among the other traits.The results indicated that the 7 body measurement traits could simplified to 3 principal components,occupied 91.37% of total information amount.The three selected principal components for information on each were not identical; it was an important reference value for yellow-feathered Kirin chicken's bodily form selection.
