Abstract

Objective:To determine the feasibility, safety and clinical significance of sel ecti ve renal angiography in patients undergoing coronary angiography. Methods:From Ju ly 2001 to July 2002,selective renal angiography was performed immediately in 79 2 pat ients after coronary angiography(CAG)to screen renal artery stenosis(RAS).Clinic al characteristics, procedural complications, and degree of RAS were recorded for further analysis.145patients were chosen randomly to test the serum creatinine b efore and after the procedure. Results:The procedure was accomplished with high r ate (99.6%) and without significant change of serum creatinine (78imol/L11im ol/L before procedure vs 77imol/L3imol/L,after procedure P0.05).The overa ll pr evalence of RAS was19.1%[including7.2%of patients with obvious stenostic lesion( 50%),4%of patients with bilateral obvious stenosis];Multivariate analysis indic ated the prevalence of RAS was significantly related to aged(70yrs),hypertensio n and multivessel coronary artery disease. Conclusions:Selective renal angiograph y immediately after coronary angiography is feasible and safe, and it exerts grea t significance in the detection of RAS.
