Overview of regulations on food additives in the European Union

It is an important role that food additives play in the food industry. Nevertheless, the misuse of food additives adds even more to the problems as damages to human bodies even human lives. Therefore, it is urgently needed to establish a strict system of supervision and management of the use of food additives using regulations. The system of regulations occupies very important position of the social legal system. The European Union(EU) food regulations provide that only food additives included in the Community list may be placed on the market as such and used in foods. This article describes the effective regulations and system of management of the EU. It suggests lessons for the legislation and the establishment of supervision and management system on food additives in the rest of the world.
