Abstract

Objective To compare the thickness of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)patients and normal subjects with GDx VCC.Methods GDx VCC examination was carried out in 44 normal eyes and 45 eyes with POAG.The resultant parameters, including TSNIT average, superior average, inferior average,TSNIT Std.Dev,inter-eye symmetry and nerve fiber index, were compared between the two groups. Results All RNFL parameters showed statistically significant differences between POAG group and normal group(P0.01).The sensitivity and specificity in detecting RNFL by GDx VCC were (68.9%-82.2%) and (84.1%-100.0%),respectively.Inferior average and ROC inferior curve square of nerve fiber index were 0.959 and 0.964,respectively.Conclusion GDx VCC is a more specific and sensitive method in the examination of RNFL.It can reflect the subjects’ RNFL condition objectively, and has clinical value in the early diagnosis of glaucoma.
