Abstract

The ecological effect, including the accumulative effect and the trend of change caused by human activities in coastal areas, could be revealed by retrospective ecological assessment. The results will be very helpful for the resource and environmental management in coastal areas. Based on the statistical analysis of historical data, the results of ecological assessment show that the ecosystem in Xiamen Bay is in a sub-health level and the ecological safety level is at the medium vulnerable state (warning state). The relationships between ecological effects and human activities were also discussed.
