Review of Studies on Hakka Dialect in the Past Three Decades

The past 30 years has witnessed a significant development in the study of Hakka dialect, as shown in five aspects, i.e., investigation report, sound, vocabulary, grammar and island of Hakka dialect.However, its research scale, research content, and research methods are far from satisfactory. The paper comes up with some suggestions to promote its development, i.e., expanding the investigation, broadening research fields, finding and explaining facts, innovating theories and methods, strengtheninginterdisciplinary research.
