The Imprint of Chinese Poetry on Japanese Haiku

There has been increasing attention on the affinity between Chinese poetry and the Japanese haiku, but researches have only been limited to a small part of Chinese poetry, which, in fact, includes all rhyming verses and dramatic lines. A comprehensive study of the imprint of Chinese poetry in its full sense on the Japanese haiku is a worthwhile task for the comparative literary studies of Chinese and Japanese literature.
