Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical application value of serum immunofixation electrophoresis in the identification of multiple myeloma(MM). Methods Serum samples from 80 patients with MM were detected for light chain and immunoglobulin levels by serum protein electrophoresis, immunofixation electrophoresis. Results The 80 MM patients,53 cases(66.3%) had elevated levels of light chain and immunoglobulin; M bands appeared in 45 serum samples(56.3%). Immunofixation electrophoresis in 80 cases(100%) were positive. Conclusion Immunofixation electrophoresis technique is sensitive and specific, which is valuable in diagnosis of MM for its rapidness and accuracy indetermination. Therefore, it has important clinical value for MM diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
