Undergraduate Students Viewing on GIS Education

Abstract

With the increasing development of GIS in China,GIS courses have been opened in more and more colleges.Nevertheless,it is a question that has attracted concern and attention from both academic circle and society.Many college students found that their knowledge and skill gained from such batching educational model in field of GIS could not meet the criteria and demand of the industry.Until now,many specialists have done great contribution to the discussion and research with regard to this issue.This article focuses on the cultivation of undergraduate level GIS.The article will be structured as follow:Firstly,some changes in GIS with the contemporary industrial development will be mentioned;After illustrating the changes occurred in GIS,the article will discuss the problems faced in the GIS education based on the analysis of GIS education home and abroad;Finally,a GIS educational scheme adapted to the rapid changes of industry will be proposed.
