Abstract

PurposeTo conduct separation, purification and structural analysis of polysaccharide constituents in cultured Cordyceps militares L. Link. MethodsIndividual constituents were isolated and purified by gel filtration chromatography, and its structural features were further studied by physicochemical constants, and spectral analysis.ResultsThree polysaccharides, named CPS 1,CPS 1 and CPS 3 were obtained from boiling water extract. All structures were found to be complex neutral heteropolysaccharides. CPS 1: Rha Glc Xyl Man Gal(1∶6.43∶25.6∶16.0∶13.8). CPS 2: Rha Glc Gal(1∶4.46∶2.43). And CPS 3 were composed by Glc only. IR indicated that CPS 1 had βconfiguration and CPS 2 and CPS 3 had αconfiguration.ConclusionCPS 1 was a polysaccharide consisting of five monosacchides connected by β configuration; CPS 2 was a polysaccharide composed of three monosaccharedes connected by α configuration; CPS 3 was a polysaccharide composed only of glucose connected by α configuration.
