Abstract
The Renaming of Baihuashi(vernacular poetry) to Xinshi(New Poetry) is an significant issue in the history of Chinese modern poetry.It reflects the change of Hu Shi's understanding of naming of Chinese modern poetry in different times.The renaming involves the respective naming time,the respective connotations,the relationship between two names as well as the cause and the result of renaming.All those questions can be answered by the research on Hu Shi's viewpoints.
