Abstract
In history of reception of Ruan Ji's Yonghuai poetry,Yan Yan-zhi from Song of South Dynasty is worthy of title of the first reader.This paper,combing background of creation of on fifth gentleman,analyzes reasons that why Yan Yan-zhi appreciates Ruan Ji and his Yonghuai poetry.Yan Yan-zhi's original opinion about poetry has been passed down from genration to generation and become base of our national esthetics.
