Division of Town Economic Zones Based on Weighted Voronoi Diagram:A Case Study of Shiyan

To divide town economic zones is important to allocate the urban-rural industries and public services facilities,as well as to improve urban-rural coordinated development.By establishing the development potential index system of towns and using Principal Component Analysis and Gravity Model,14 center-towns were selected,meanwhile,all the central cities and towns′ impacts on surrounding areas were calculated.Based on the Breaking Point Theory,the spatial impact scope of each central town was generated by using the Weighted Voronoi Diagram with taking the square root of each central town′s centrality strength score as weight.To maintain the integrity of village and town′s administrative area,the impact scope was adjusted with the consideration of terrain conditions and transport links between townships.The total 22 economic zones′ coverage of towns were finally determined.The results show that the spatial impact scope still depends on the distance between central towns,and it is always discordant with the administrative area.The factors of natural resources,influence from surrounding cities and so on also should be taken into consideration in the future to perfect the research methods.
