Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between cost and clinical effectiveness of three different types of antibiotic in treatment of elderly patients with community acquired pneumonia. Methods All of 90 elderly patients with community acquired pneumonia were randomly divided into group A(30 cases),B group(30 cases) and Group C(30 cases),which were respectively treated with levofloxacin, azithromycin and cefoperazone-sulbactam for 10d,then used the pharmacoeconomic principles for cost-effectiveness analysis. Results For group A,B and C,effectiveness respectively were 83.3%,76.7%,86.7%(P0.05),bacterial clearance rates were 88%,79.2%,92.3%(P 0.05),and the incidence of adverse drug reactions were low,the difference among the three groups was not statistically significant;the Cost-effectiveness ratio respectively were(effectiveness) 9.9,14.7,20.0,(bacterial clearance rates) were 9.3,14.2,18.7,the cost-effectiveness ratio of group A was the smallest. Conclusion Levofloxacin treatment elderly patients with community acquired pneumonia was effective, safe and reliable, worthy of the primary hospital clinical application.
