Curative effect of unstable fracture of distal radius

Objective To approach the operative effect of unstable fracture of distal radius treated by open reduction and internal fixation and external fixation. Methods From 2000 March to 2004 September,64 cases with unstable fractures of distal radius treated by open reduction and internal fixation or external fixation were analyzed retrospectively. Results In the group of open reduction and internal fixation, the excellent and good rate was 92.5%, and the complication rate was 10%.In the group of external fixation, the excellent and good rate was 87.4%, and the complication rate was 12.5%.Conclusion Good results are obtained by open reduction and internal fixation or external fixation. Open reduction and internal fixation has better than that external fixaction in the efficacy and complications.
