Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal prosthesis for inguinal hernia in primary hospital:a report of 25 cases

【Objective】 To summarize the clinical experiences and efficacy of laparoscopic total repair for inguinal hernia.【Methods】From October 2006 to April 2008,30 totally-extraperitoneal prosthesis(TEP) operations were performed on 25 patients with inguinal hernia by using laparoscopy under general anesthesia.Among the patients,17 had indirect herinas,2 direct herinas,6 bilaterl herinas.【Results】The operation was completed without converting to open surgery in all the cases.The operating time was 45 to 126 minutes(mean 61 minutes).The intraoperative blood loss was 5 to 20 mL.The patients stayed in hospital for 5 to 10 days(mean 5.5 days).Of the patients,4 had peritoneal tearing,2 had groin seroma.No intestinal,vasal injury,neuralgia,nor hemorrhage was found.The patients were followed up for 1 to 19 months,and no recurrence occurred.【Conclusions】Laparoscopic TEP is safe and feasible for patients with inguinal hernia in primary hospital.
