Clinic contrast study of Venlafaxine slow release tablets for treatment of depression

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of depression treated by venlafaxine-xr.Methods:Seventy six cases with depression were divided randomly into Venlafaxine group(38 cases) and Fluoxetine group(38 cases).Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) were used.Results:The HAMD scores lowered more significantly since the end of the 2nd week in the research treatment(P0.05) and there were no significant differences at other time-points(P0.05).Both groups compared with pre-treatment lowered more significantly(P0.05).There were no significant difference between two groups in side effects(P0.05).Conclusion:Depression treated with Venlafaxine-xr had definite efficacy,rapid onset and good safety.
