Abstract
Effects of pre-harvest combined treatments of calcium and potassium on the fruit quality and physiological changes of sweet cherry cultivar Hongdeng during storage were studied. The results showed that pre-harvest spraying with different concentrations of calcium and potassium could inhibit the activities of polygalacturonase enzyme (PG) and peroxidase (POD),slow the accumulation of membranaceous peroxide (MDA) in cells,delay the quality deterioration during storage, and so effectively improved the sweet cherry fruit quality and storability. The combination of 1.5% Ca (NO3)2+0.3% KH2PO4 might be an ideal treatment for the control of postharvest decay of sweet cherries.
