Abstract
Objective To evaluate the distribution of ganglia cells in congenital intestinal atresia and discuss the clinical significance.Methods Immunohistochemical analysis of NT-3protein in small bowel samples from patients with congenital intestinal atresia (n=15)and normal intestinal(n=6)was performed.Results The expression of NT-3protein in the myenteric plexuses neurons in small bowel atresia of sick children was significantly lower than those in the controls (t' =9.90,P0.05).Conclusions The postoperative dysfunction of gut ,after primary anastomosis in intestinal atresia was related to decrease of ganglial cells and nerve trunk turned into thin in the myenteric plexus of intestinal wall.
