Abstract
34 DNA microsatellites or simple sequence length polymorphisms (SSLPs) of four inbred mice were generated by PCR using specific primers. 24 microsatellites were variant in different strains. In all 34 microsatellites, the variation was between 38.3%-58.8% in different strains. The microsatellite analysis is a fast and economical method for monitoring genetic contamination of inbred mice.
