Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of fragile histidine triad (FHIT) gene protein and its significance in the tissue of cervical carcinoma and CIN. Methods: Detecting FHIT protein expression in 35 cervical carcinomas,58 CIN and 20 normal cervical tissues by SP immunohistochemical method. Results: The positive frequency of FHIT were 90.0%,74.1%, and 25.7% in cervical carcinoma, CIN, and normal cervix tissues respectively, and the expression of FHIT from normal cervical tissue, CIN to cervical carcinoma is incline to lower and shorter, the difference was statistically significant. FHIT in CINⅠ~Ⅱ(84.4%) were higher than that in CINⅢ(61.5%) and there was obvious difference. High differentiation (35.3%) was higher than middle-low differentiation (16.7%) and there was no obvious difference. FHIT expression was different between the Han (50.0%) and Uighur (10.0%) nationality (P0.05). Conclusion: The loss or descending of FHIT expression plays an important role in the development of cervical carcinoma , and thus may become a new early diagnostic marker in cervical carcinoma.
