On the C-E Translation of White Paper from the Perspective of Discourse Cohesion and Coherence

Discourse coherence is realized through different cohesive devices,including grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion,which,on the surface level,play an important role in the discourse coherence on the deep level.This paper,from the angle of systemic functional linguistics,attempts to discuss the application of discourse cohesion and coherence to the C-E translation of Environmental Protection(one of the White Papers of the Chinese Government).Through the comparison between the discourses of Chinese and English,it is going to demonstrate how the cohesion and coherence of Chinese in its English version is realized.
