Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of distribution of nitric oxide synthase(NOS) positive neurons and FOS protein expression in the rat medullary visceral zone (MVZ) following focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury. To study the correlative change between NOS positive neurons and FOS protein expression and illustrate the function role of MVZ in the ischemia injury. Methods Nylon thread was inserted into the middle cerebral artery in rats to produce an animal model of focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion.Using NADPH?d histochemical and anti?FOS protein immunohistochemical and NOS/FOS double contained methods displayed the expressing changes of the three positive neurons at different time periods in MVZ were investigated.Brain slices of sham operated group and normal group were taken for control. Results Both the containing reactions of NOS positive neurons were enhanced and FOS protein expression changed with the changes of time course after ischemia reperfusion.Approximately 15~20 percent of the double contained cells showed in medullary visceral zone. Conclusion The result indicated that the change of distribution of NOS positive neurons was positively related with FOS protein expression and was associated with regulation or control of the stress and defence responses in the rat MVZ after cerebral ischemia.
