Abstract

The assessment and review of water quality of the Huaihe River Basin for the period of 1995～2000 are made. The pollution transport capacities of the main sections of the Huaihe River are estimated and the causes of pollution are analyzed by use of the channel runoff data. It is pointed out that the present water quality improvement is only the primary control of high level pollution, and that the task to turn the water of the Huaihe River clean is still heavy.
