Observations on the Efficacy of Combined Use of Abdominal Acupuncture,Traction and Massotherapy in Treating Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Protrusion

Objective To seek a better method for treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.Methods One hundred and sixteen patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion were randomly allocated to a treatment group(abdominal acupuncture,traction and massotherapy) and a control group(traction and massotherapy).Improvements in the symptoms were compared after treatment.Results The efficacy rate was 98.3% in the treatment group and 82.8% in the control group.There was a statistically significant difference in total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion Combined use of abdominal acupuncture,traction and massotherapy improves the clinical symptoms of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion more than traction plus massotherapy.
