Abstract

Objective:To compare the effecacy and safety of aripiprazole to treat female schizophrenics.Methods:70 femaleschizophrenic patients were randomly divided into aripiprazole group and risperidonegroup for 12 weeks. The efficacywas measured with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale for schizophrenia(PANSS).The side effects were assessed by theTESS.Results:By the end of the 12 weeks, the PANSS scores of two groups decreased notably(P 0.01).There was no significantdifference between the two groups(P 0.05).The occurrence rate of increased weight and changed endocrine in the aripiprazolegroup was significantly lower than in the rispridone group(P 0.01).Conclusion:The results suggest that aripiprazoleis as effective as risperidone for the treatment of female schizophrenics; The occurrence rate of increased weight and changedendocrine in the aripiprazole group was significantly lower than in the rispridone group,Aripiprazole is beneficial for femaleschizophrenia.
