Analysis of component blood transfusion

Objective To analyse component blood transfusion practice in our hospital,helping doctors to adopt a point of view of modern transfusion and use blood reasonably.Methods Data of blood transfusion from 2001 to 2005 were analyzed,including total amount of blood transfusion,the proportion of component blood transfusion and each blood component used each year.Results The total amount of blood transfusion,the rate of utilization of red blood cell,platelet and plasma increased with each passing year,while the rate of utilization of total blood cell and white blood cell decreased with each passing year.Compared with modern transfusion practice in our and foreign countries,there were some differences and unreasonableness in the use of plasma,cold deposition and red blood cell in our hospital.Conclusion This analysis of component blood transfusion in our hospital forms the basis for generalizing the use of the component blood transfusion.
