The relationship between the level of serum TGF -β1 and Child-Pugh grade in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Abstract
To observe the level of serum transforming growth factor beta( TGF -β1 ) in the patients with cirrhosis and study its clinical significance. SerumTGF- β1 was measured with ELISA method in 93 patients with cirrhosis and 50 healthy subjects, the levels of serum TGF - β1 were significantly higher in the patients with cirrhosis than those in healthy controls ( P 0.01). the level of serum TGF -β1 increased gradually with Child - Pugh grade. ( P 0.01). The results suggested that Serm TGF - β1 level can reflect the degree of hepatic injury in the patients with cirrhosis and detecting of serum TGF - β1 level is helpful in estimating the state of the diseases.
