Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between edema formation around hematoma and complement 3 and 4(C3 and C4)in patients with cerebral hemorrhage and evaluate the effect of complements on the edema formation. Methods All the patients were divided into four groups;the control, peripheral blood, hematoma and radiology groups. The last three groups were further subdivided as 1 day,2 day,3 day,5 day and 7 day groups. The immunochemistry was taken to detect the C3 and C4 for observing the law of their changes. Results In the normal and peripheral blood groups C3 began to increase from the first day,and reaches to the peak on the third day;it then decreased to the level of the first day.The laws of changes in C4 and ratio of edema were generally consistent with this.Compared with those in the control group, there appeared significant differences in C3 in 3d and 5d subgroups of the peripheral group(P0.05),and in 2d,3d and 5d subgroups of the hematoma group(P0.05);and there appeared significant differences in C4 in 2d,3d and 5d subgroups of the peripheral group(P0.05),and in3d subgroup of the hematoma group(P0.05).Conclusion C3 and C4 play an important role in edema formation around hematoma after cerebral hemorrhage.
