Behavior of Zinc,Sulfur and Iron in Low-temperature Pressure Leaching Process of Marmatite

Abstract

The low-temperature pressure leaching of synthesized marmatite was studied.The leaching behavior of zinc,sulfur and iron was discussed based on the analysis of the phase change and the mineral surface properties at 388 K.The results indicate that only the dissolving reaction takes place for zinc and the dissolved zinc can exist in the solution stably.The acidic dissolving of marmatite,other than the electrochemical oxidation is the main chemical reaction in the initial leaching.No sulfate ion is produced in the initial leaching while a small quantity of elemental sulfur is further oxidized into sulfate in the terminal leaching.Elemental sulfur is the main oxidization product of marmatite.The dissolving and hydrolysis precipitation of iron occur simultaneously in the leaching.In term of iron,the dissolving is the main reaction in the initial leaching while the hydrolysis precipitation is predominant in the terminal leaching and the form of precipitates can be controlled.
