A correlative research on the relationship between the coping style and psychological health of obstetrics nurse from general hospital of Shandong Province Jining city

Objective To explore the relationship between the coping style and psychological health of obstetrics nurse in order to provide the basis for nursing management.Methods Two hundred and ninety obstetrics nurses were surveyed by SCL-90(Symptom Checklist-90) and Coping Style Questionniare (CSQ),the psychological disorder nurses and psychological health nurses were examined,the difference of CSQ between psychological disorder nurses and psychological health nurses was compared,and the relevance about SCL-90 and CSQ was analyzed.Results Three hunderd questionniare were issued and 290 questionniare were responsive with a effective response rate of 96.7％.The detection rate of psychological problems in the obstetrics nurse was 32.4％.The nurses with psychological problems behaved mainly negative coping style,the nurses with psychological health behaved mainly active coping style,the score of CSQ about dealing with the problem,self-blame,help,fantasy and withdrawal were (6.26 ± 2.12),(5.89 ± 2.64),(4.25 ± 1.81),(5.32 ±2.63),(5.97 ± 2.86) in the nurses with psychological problems and (8.19 ± 2.37),(4.33 ± 1.61),(5.64 ± 2.06),(3.69 ± 2.05),(4.23 ± 1.96) in the nurses with psychological health,the difference was statistically significant (t =3.84,3.10,3.21,3.02,3.09; P ＜ 0.01).Pearson correlation analysis revealed SCL scores are significantly positively correlated with problem solving and factor for help and negatively correlated with self-reproach,fantasize,and avoid (P ＜ 0.01).Condusions The obstetrics nurses have different degrees of psychological problems,mainly as negative coping style,the nurse management workers should give them active intervention based on their condition in order that clinical nursing work is better carried out.
