Abstract

Fushun shale oil contains a considerable amount of non-hydrocarbons with nitrogen compounds predominating.Application of chromatographic method to the Fushun shale oil results in a separation of a colorless to yellow fraction, which consists mainly of hydrocarbons, and a dark-brown non-hydrocarbon fraction;large- pore silica gel is an excellent adsorbent for this purpose, and petroleum ether and ethanol are used as the eluents.Reactions with formaldehyde-H_2SO_4 and with Ehrlich reagent may be used as indications for the separation of aromatic hydro- carbons and nitrogen compounds, and it has been proved by experiments that the hydrocarbon-concentrate thus separated contains no nitrogen compounds. It is found that hydrocarbon content in the Fushun shale oil decreases as the boiling points of fractions increase. The content of the hydrocarbon fraction in the Fushun crude shale oil is 59.4%,while that of the Hwadian crude oil is 72.6%.
