Sustainable development trend of human settlements in Xi'an

Abstract

Based on the theory of sustainable development of human settlements,we built the index system of sustainable development of human settlements in Xi'an from housing conditions,infrastructure,resources environment,economic and technological conditions,social humanities,the 5 aspects.Through evaluating and analyzing the index data of human settlements from 1997 to 2007 using mathematical models,we conclude that the process of sustainable development of human settlements in Xi'an can be divided into three periods,i.e.period of rapid development of infrastructure of human settlements;period of high-quality balanced and rapid development of human settlements;and period of stable development of human settlements since 2006.In the end,we proposed the concrete measures to optimize the human settlements in Xi'an,i.e.actively improving the infrastructure,maintaining the urban ecological environment,improving the residential environment,and maintaining a healthy social humane environment.
