Xiamei village of Wuyishan city is one of the Famous Ancient Historical and Cultural Villages in China.Brick carving,wood carving and stone carving are major artistic expression forms of architectural decoration in this village’s ancient dwellings.Strong economic strength,rich ritual and musical customs as well as builders’ skillful carving and painting techniques had granted decoration designs with rich cultural connotations through diversified subject matters,mainly presented in forms of auspicious designs of auspicious birds and lucky animals,plants,utensils and images of people.This has made ancient architectural carving art of ancient dwellings in Xiamei village an integral part of local culture in the north of Fujian Province.
