A Preliminary Expleration of Cai Yuan-pei's Moral Ideas

Cai Yuan-pei attached great importance to moral education. He advanced the educational ideas of centering aroud the citizen's morality. The content of moral eduation mainly consisted of the sense of morality, the sense of learning, the world outlook and the idea of loving one's country as well as serving the interests of the vast majority. He emphasis that the important point of moral education lay in its being put into effect. He maintained that moral education should be included in physical training, intellectual education and art education. He thought highly of the effect of self-education in moral education. All these ideas provided our educational reform at present time with much use for reference.
