Abstract

ObjectiveTo determine the relationship between low density lipoprotein receptor(LDLR) gene HincII polymorphsim and hypertension.MethodsThe LDLR genotypes of study group consisted 86 cases and control group included 120 individuls were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).ResultsLDLR included three genotypes(CC,TT and CT).The genotype CC,TT and CT were(18.60 %),(65.12 %) and(16.28 %) respectively in the hypertensives, while in controls the percentage was(1.67 %),(75.83 %) and(22.50 %) respectively(P(0.05)).There was a higher frequency of CC genotype in hypertensives as compared with that of controls. The frequencies of C allele in hypertensives and controls were(26.74 %) and(12.92 %) respectively. The frequency of C allele in hypertensives was higher than that in controls(P(0.05)).ConclusionThe frequency of C allele in hypertensives was higher than that in controls. It suggested that LDLR C allele might play a role in the pathophysiology of hypertension.
