Analysis of Rutting Reasons of Asphalt Concret Pavement in Xi-Hu Expressway

Abstract

In order to analyze the reason of the rutting in Xi-Hu Expressway,core samples are taken from the road different cross section and rutting place in the identical cross section,uplift place and stop way,the deformation in every structural layer and the influence of this deformation on the total rutting deformation are surveyed and analyzed,the core samples are taken to conduct the extracting test in the laboratory,the influence of the asphalt content and the gradation variation on the rutting is also analyzed.Concludes are drawn from the survey and experiments,the flow deformation in the mid-surface is the main contribution to the rutting,the too fine gradation and the gradation refinement under the load is the main reason of the rutting.The strict control of the asphalt content,using the S gradation and preventing the gradation segregation in the construction process are the important way to reduce the wheel rut.
