Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma(RCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in the male urogenital system with high incidence.RCC is insensitive either to chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The blood circulation is the most common metastatic pathway.Besides,RCC is easy to cause thrombus in the renal vein and inferior vena cava. The incidence of RCC with thrombus in the renal vein and inferior vena cava is about 4.0%~22.2% and the clinical stage is Ⅲb as reported in the literature. With the rapid development of diagnostic modalities, such as MRI,CTA and Color Ultrasound, the early detection and diagnosis of RCC with thrombus in the renal vein and inferior vena cava have much improved the outcome of surgical treatment in the past 20 years.Integrated Application of new diagnostic modalities and multi-disciplinary cooperation should be further summarized and put into use.Based on published literature and on our own clinical experience, this article proposes a new classification method of RCC with thrombus in the renal vein and inferior vena cava for further discussion, modification and clinical use.
