Abstract

Objective: To study the surgical technique of phacoemulsification and artificial lens implantation in post-traumatic microcoria cataract. Methods: Thirty patients (32 eyes) with post-traumatic small pupil cataract underwent phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. Iris retractors were positioned to dilate the small pupil up to 4~5mm in diameter, and then the nucleus was emulsified by continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) and modified stopping and chopping technique. Results: All patients had vision improvement and physiologically round or near-round pupils. There were no posterior capsule rupture and corneal decompensation. Conclusion: Good effects can be achieved by using reasonable surgical techniques and instruments in the treatment of post-traumatic microcoria cataract.
