Abstract

OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinical manifestations, clinical diagnosis and treatment of mycoplasma pneumoniae infection and to raise awareness for the disease. METHODS The clinical data of 87 cases of children with mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in our hospital from September 1998 to September 2011 was analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS In the 87 cases, 10 cases were the children﹤1 year of age, accounting for 11.49%. 21 cases were 1-3 years, accounting for 24.13%. 41 cases were 3-6 years, accounting for 47.13%. 15 cases were the age 6 years old, accounting for 17.24%. The diagnosis accompanied by wheezing was in 40 cases, accounting for 46.%. 36 patients were with decreasing in breath sounds, accounting for 41.38%. The occurrence of pulmonary complications was in 40 cases, accounting for 46%. The enzyme-linked immunoassay was taken for MPIgM test, and it showed be positive. X-ray examination met the diagnostic criteria for mycoplasma pneumonia. All patients were treated with azithromycin treatment, and clinical symptoms of 68 cases improved markedly in the two courses, the remaining 19 patients were taken by intravenous infusion of methylprednisolone, 12 patients were treated effectively. Another seven patients were without relieved symptoms, and taken with the addition of 400 mg / (kg·d) gamma globulin for treatment, children in this group, 68 cases were cured, improved was in two cases, ineffective was in 17 cases, with a total effective rate of 79.31%. CONCLUSION The mycoplasma pneumoniae infection is not restricted by the season and age. In any season, any age, the disease may be caused. Since the lack of specific clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, clinical signs should be combined with X-ray for comprehensive analysis. When the conventional antibiotics treatment is ineffective, the check of mycoplasma pneumoniae infection need to be taken in time. Azithromycin is an effective drug for mycoplasma pneumoniae infection.
