Abstract

Objective: To explore the evaluation of OMOM capsule endoscopy in the diagnosis of digestive tract disease, especially the small-bowel disease. Methods: 56 patients of clinic and impatient with unclear digestive tract hemorrhage, abdominal pain, distention and diarrhea in our hospital received examination of OMOM capsule endoscopy from May,2011 to May,2014. Before the examination, all patients underwent gastroscopy, colonoscopy and gastrointestinal barium meal, but the results were negative. Results: All patients completed inspection. The diagnostic yield of capsule endoscopy was 71. 4%( 40 /56). The diagnostic yield of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding by capsule endoscopy was 88. 4%( 23 /26),and of abdominal pain, abdominal distention and diarrhea group was56. 6%( 17 /30). Conclusion: OMOM capsule endoscopy has high diagnostic rate in small-bowel disease because it is safe. The price is low and there is no trauma. It can be used as a routine screening of the small-bowel disease.
