Management of pathological middle turbinates in endoscopic sinus surgery

Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between the results of endoscopic sinus surgery and nosal functional recovery.Methods Two hundreds and fourteen patients with sinusitis and nasal polyps were chosen.According to the pathological changes,the middle turbinates were burnt with laser or partial resected.Results The normality of middle turbinate was recovered basically in 3～6 months.There was no synechia in those with partial middle turbinectomy.The efficiency of chronic sinusitis was 86.4%.Conclusion The suitable management of pathological middle turbinates suitable in the endoscopic sinus surgery may be good for the prognosis of patients with chronic sinusitis.
