Abstract

Objectives To explore the efficacy and safety of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) conbined with cortisone on child primary refractory nephropathy syndrome. Methods Fifteen patients with primary refractory nephropathy syndrome were treated with MMF plus a small dose of cortisone . A dose of 0. 5g/d of MMF was given to those aged 2-6, a dose of 1. 0 g/d to aged 7-12,a dose of 1. 5 g/d to aged 13-16. Three months later, these doses were reduced gradually to half of the original doses for another six months Meanwhile, a dose of Img/kg. d of oral prednisone was given, and the withdrawal of it was dependent on the patient's condition. Results With the combined treatment of MMF and cortisone, the patients had a significant fall in urine albumen level and a rise in plasma albumin level (P0. 01). The remission rate was 78% and no obvious side effects were found. Conclusion MMF is effective on refractory nephropathy syndrome with only few and mild side effects. It is a kind of promising clinical treatment of this disease at present.
